Elemental Analysis (Solid Samples)
Elemental Analysis for Environmental Samples
We provide elemental analysis for soil, plant tissue, roots, leaves, and environmental solid samples using the Thermo Scientific FlashSmart Elemental Analyzer. Available measurements include carbon, nitrogen, hydrogen, sulfur, carbonate equivalent (CaCO₃), and organic/inorganic carbon fractions.

Analytical Method
Samples are analyzed using high-temperature dry combustion.
Samples are combusted at temperatures above 1000 °C in the presence of oxygen and catalytic reagents. Carbon is converted to carbon dioxide (CO₂), while nitrogen compounds are converted to nitrogen oxides (NOₓ).
Combustion gases pass through a reduction column and are separated by gas chromatography before detection using a thermal conductivity detector (TCD). Instrument software calculates and reports elemental concentrations.
